Dreaming of Spring – Butlers Orchard

It’s only January and I am already dreaming of spring sessions. I absolutely love the holiday season, the festive decorations, the hot chocolate, etc, but I am definitely a warm weather girl at core. And warm weather means spring sessions! This was one of my favorite sessions from last spring and can’t wait for many more this year! If you are contemplating a spring/early summer session be sure to reach out soon! And with that I will leave you with images of this gorgeous family who remind me that warm weather will be back (hopefully) soon…

Mommy & Me (before baby)

Happy Friday! It’s only fitting that my next blog post be to celebrate the arrival of Tristan Shaw. He’s baby number two for one of my best friends. Tristan was born Thursday, April 27th, 2017 and is growing fast—see adorable new image of him at the bottom of the post! I love capturing those first days of life and am so thrilled to see this family of three now a happy family of four.

Just a month before Tristan was born, I snuck away with Karin and her daughter Daphne for a Mommy & Me session. I can’t even call it work when I get to hang out and take pictures with old friends—and in a gorgeous Level 9 luxury suite at The Dupont Circle Hotel in Washington, DC.

Daphne fell in love with the camera, the natural light in the suite was beautiful and even the baby bump cooperated perfectly, giving a few kicks when he heard his big sister laugh. I was thrilled to be able to capture this joy in the photos as my friend enjoyed the final days of mommy time with just her little girl…

And welcome to the world Tristan Shaw Tanabe Fischer!

A fall afternoon in the park

This family wanted for their session: 1.) fall foliage, 2.) gorgeous light, and 3.) the nostalgia of Rock Creek Park where they regularly take walks and play with their kids.  It was as if the weather/location gods were shining down on us because everything came together just right for their scheduled session date. The fall colors were at their perfect peak, the weather was ideal (not too cool and not too warm), the light and location were incredible and these handsome boys were perfect little muses, hamming it up for the camera, posing, playing, and just having so much fun being themselves and being together. Hope to have many more sessions like this next fall! <3 <3

Love & Strength

I don’t know about you but the last few weeks have left me drained…I am wiped. Between a torrential downpour of rain last week, a case of the sniffles in my house this week, the constant barrage of depressing news, and throw in bit of a lingering post holidays coma, and it makes me want to curl up and not want to come out for awhile. But…nothing make me looks at the world in a more positive way and hopeful that we can all come together for our future than witnessing a new little one’s first few days in the world (especially an extra precious one with a beautiful older sister.) 😉

These three ladies had my heart at hello. I have known their mom since high school and felt so honored to take their pictures at such an incredibly special time. However, with so much joy there is also heartache as she lost her husband to cancer after the birth of her first.  In a time when I think for anyone it would be hard to move forward, she created this precious gift and is fulfilling their wishes for growing their family.  She is inspiring, beautiful, strong, brave, and I can only hope to have even an ounce of her strength. They will grow up knowing how amazing their mom is, how wonderful their dad was and just how much they are loved. I know he is watching every day and is so incredibly proud. And thank you for giving me something so pure, so selfless, and so wonderful to cling to in this crazy crazy time…

New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions were in abundance this year and I had grand plans to finally blog more of my sessions from Day 1. Fast forward and its January 9th already and no blog session yet. Can I count last week as the lost week of 2017? Because last week was not really the thrilling arrival into the New Year I was quite expecting. So…I have decided I am sweeping last week back into proverbial 2016 rug and starting anew this week.

And I guess this is the official unofficial reintroduction to the LRG Portraits blog. I have been meaning to restart this for the last two years, but never seemed to find the time to figure out how all of this blogging stuff works. My first post took me days to figure out, and its only now that I have finally got my head wrapped around how to blog my photos more efficiently.  This session was one of my favorites from this fall and I knew I was going to have to get over my blogging procrastination/phobia so I could share more images from this gorgeous fall/winter family session. For the early risers, sunrise sessions are amazing, its so quiet and peaceful and as much as I am not an early riser, sessions like these make me want to get up early any day…
