One of the best parts about being a newborn photographer is the ability to be a quiet observer to one of the biggest milestones that families ever experience. There is so much joy and love to document for parents, and this gorgeous lifestyle newborn session in Washington DC was no different!
I adored working with these lovely first time parents. There were so many tender moments with their little girl. My favorite images are those where Mom and Dad are looking at each other. Their shared happiness is just so beautiful!
Baby girl loved being curled up on Mom’s chest during the session. She woke up when I removed the swaddle, which is to be expected, but I loved it because the portraits of her looking up at Mom are so sweet.
Working With Your Space | Lifestyle Newborn Session in Washington DC
So often families tell me they are worried their home is not ideal for a newborn session given limited space or lighting. I’ve photographed in enough historic homes and condos in Washington DC to know that we don’t actually need as much space as you’d think!
This family’s apartment had beautiful light in the primary bedroom, which also happened to be the temporary nursery! Even though we only used one room, there is so much variety in their final gallery.
Sometimes its hard for families to see the potential in their homes. But, I love looking for beautiful pockets of light and using different angles to make it work. There’s just something so special about documenting your growing family in the place where you brought baby home.
